Around 1 month ago I got fed up with all of Wayne Root’s crap – and busted him:

I planned on leaving him alone – but then I heard the following on one of the L.A. area sports talk radio stations.
“Wayne Allyn Root has his BIGGEST game of the month on tonight’s Rams/Browns game and is releasing the pick ABSOLUTELY free to everyone who calls him at 1-800-990-ROOT. Wayne has done all of the research and tonite’s game will be an easy winner. (Wayne-o himself them came on air and said the same thing he says in all his spots) ‘I want to be your man in Vegas. Try me free and you will be with me for life (yeah – because he and his staff will never stop calling you).’ Call 1-800-990-ROOT – that’s 1-800-990-7668 for this ABSOLUTELY free winner.”
Well, you know me – I had to take him up on this. Especially since I saw in this thread Root had a GOY on the Browns on MNF (and what a shock – it lost – geez – like we couldn’t have seen hat coming!).

So I went to make the call and take up Wayne-o on this “nice” offer. I called at 1:25P (all times PST). The older sounding woman answered the phone, “Thank You for calling Wayne Root Sports.” I told her I was calling for the free game offer I heard about on the radio. She asked me for my name and number – which I gave her. At 1:26 she told me “a rep will call you back in a few minutes.”
At 1:46 I called them back telling them I had to leave soon and could they call me soon. At 1:58P – or 32 minutes after I hung up – the phone rang.
The person told me he was “Tommy from Wayne Root Sports.” After a tiny bit of chitchat he then asked me why I was calling (brilliant – great salesman you are buddy – you should KNOW why I am calling – idiot!). He asked me how much I normally bet on a game. I told him “not very much” and when pressed, told him between $500-$1,000.
Tommy (who sounded like someone in his early/mid 20s) asked if I had an offshore account. I told him I do as well as a local guy. Tommy asked me if I had ever worked with a service. I told him I hadn’t. He asked me to get a pen and paper. I waited a few seconds then told him I had that (even though I had it all along – but in case you haven’t noticed by now – what I do requires a decent amount of “acting” skills on my part).
He repeated his name and gave me his number: 1-877-509-2517 (so people – call anytime and bug this loser).
I then asked Tommy Boy here about the Game of the Month Wayne-o had going tonite. Tommy then told me “It’s a small play – something the big players aren’t on” (Excuse me? Then why the hell is it a “GOM”? To me – a GOM is a play you can step out on and bet A LOT of money on – not something for smaller players – to me – a GOM is something players should bet much more than a normal play – not less – but then again – I have morals and integrity – 2 things Wayne-o doesn’t have!). He said he would give it to me – but never did because he changed the topic of the conversation faster than a 5-year-old with his hand caught in the cookie jar (I know – once again – what a shock!).
Tommy then asked if I bet basketball at all. I told him I did. When I did (and what a shock this is gonna be) Tommy told me they had a “No Limit” play on a basketball game today. Tommy told me if I go on their site (www.winningedge.com) I could see this pick is being sold for (and hang on to your hats for this one) $500 (for the ONE pick – for that price – I’d better get a lap dance from that schools’ cheerleaders, too). I asked what “No Limit” plays means – and Tommy boy told me it means “There is NO LIMIT on what I can make on the games (or in Wayne-o‘s case – lose) and that I should bet at least 2 to 3 times my normal play.
Tommy then nearly put me on the floor with laughter by telling me how (and I am 100% serious about this) Wayne AND Tommy just got back from the Bellagio where they placed some large wagers (2 things here: First – I sense no matter which sales operator I spoke to – I would have been told the same thing – and I could hear in the background a TON of sales people talking – my feeling is they saw this and took “advantage” of it: http://www.winningedge.com/home/jobs_at_gwin.php and Second - if Tommy and Wayne DID just come back from the Bellagio – I can promise you Tommy was driving the car and never got out of it – as little as I think of Root – there is NO WAY he is gonna take someone like Tommy with him to the Bellagio with him). Tommy told me Wayne-o is 16-3 so far this hoops season with his No Limit picks. Tommy also told me that free picks were something I should only bet a few dollars on.
Tommy then got to price. He told me that normally Wayne-o charges $450 a week for services – and this includes all of his picks – including No Limit ones. But Tommy told me Wayne wants to “showcase a winner” and because of that the price of this No Limit pick was “only” $50.
Tommy said that after the pick wins I will “call me back later and thank me and want more picks and then without breaking stride, asking me how I wanted to pay for the picks – with what credit card. I took this time to ask some questions I hadn’t gotten answered yet.
I asked Tommy what Wayne-o’ winning percentage is in some sports. Tommy told me Wayne hits around 80% (fill in your own line, here) and said in basketball, “most clients make money – especially in the first few months when the lines are soft.” I then asked Tomym about football, and he said Wayne-o hits roughly 70% (once again – laugh on your own here). Tommy told me No Limit picks hit at a higher rate because “they are based on information while other picks are handicapped on stats and trends – and recall how Tommy said the GOM was a weaker play then one would expect – meaning it was nothing more than a stat or trend play). I asked Tommy if Wayne-o I monitored – and he said he was by the Oklahoma Sports Monitor.
I tried as hard as I could to get Tommy to talk about Wayne’s house – like John did the last time I called – because I was gonna slam it back in Tommy’s face about Wayne’s house is only around 25% of the 20k sq/ft John said it was and only worth about 33% of what John said it was worth – but Tommy never did. Tommy did say, “Wayne’s a good guy – he takes care of us – his clients stay with him year after year.”
Tommy said there were 2 big things he was there for: One – to make me money. Two – to save me money. I wanted him to explain more in detail what the latter meant – and Tommy said that he would save me money but giving me only winning picks – not losing ones – and therefore save me money.
I then asked Tommy what happens after this pick – what the price would be for more? Would I still pay $450 a week or what? Tommy said Wayne wanted to get new clients (read: their credit card and home info so he could bug them for years – and we know he will) and that after this game wins (and by the way – has any service ever said their pick would lose?) we could work on putting together a package.
Tommy once again asked for my Visa or M/C number. At this point I had enough with him and decided since I no longer needed him – it was time to drop the hammer!
I asked Tommy is HE had a paper and pen. He said he did. I then asked Tommy if he has ever heard of a site called “The Prescription?” To no one’s shock – he hasn’t. I told him Wayne probably has and knows about it. I did give Tommy the site address and told him to do to the “Posting Forums.” Once there – do an advanced search. Put “Wayne Root” in the top line, then click on the dot for “Subject Line” and in author name, put “Winkyduck.” I told him there is someone at this site that calls services that promise free games to see if they will deliver or not – and I was that person. I told him I wrote down all he said and I was going to post it at the site for all to see what a lying scam artist he and Wayne Root are and that I knew Wayne’s pick on tonite’s game was a “Millionaire Game of the Year on the Browns.” Tommy muttered something back to me – and then hung up. I then called Tommy back on the 800-number he gave me. Good news, people, he has voice mail, so I left him a voicemail message. Feel free to call Tommy anytime you want and leave a message for him. I would suggest doing it at night when he is gone – and I would also call from a pay phone so Root doesn’t get your info by calling the 800-number.
In closing – I know people have asked if there is any way I can tape these calls and play them back for all to hear. Trust me, people – I’d love to do so – but I make these calls from pay phones not my home phone. If anyone knows of a product that allows me to hook it up to a pay phone and tape the calls – send me an e-mail and we can talk. Keep in mind I can’t “unscrew” any part of the phone mouthpiece – so that option isn’t there. If someone can point me the right way – I’d love to tape the call and play it back for y’all.
